This week's #WCW is a fun and loving couple that I've had the pleasure of knowing for over 10 years. Nichole and Tracy are high school sweethearts from the "DMV" area. They have purchased a beautiful home with two adorable pups, Chloe & Rose and anticipating expanding their family in the near future. I was privileged enough to be a bridesmaid in their wedding and it was an absolutely beautiful day. Please read on to get some insight from the couple, themselves, on planning a wedding of perfection, Carrico Style!
Wedding Date: April 13, 2013
Outside Ceremony & Inside Reception
Orange, Grey, & Ivory color scheme
Approximate expense: $12k
First Dance song: Cruisin' -Smokey Robinson
Why did you all pick that date?
"It was off-season and it was cheaper" -Groom, Tracy
How long were you engaged?
After some finger counting and back and forth calculations...
"17 months"-Bride, Nichole
Where did you get inspiration from for the color scheme of your wedding?
"Orange is my favorite color"-Groom, Tracy
"My favorite color is purple, but we didn't want to do orange and purple. We knew ivory was going to be in there because that was the color of my dress. We tried to find something kind of different so we went with grey."-Bride, Nichole
Did you guys use Pinterest or anything else to help you come up with the color combination?
"No, we kind of just threw the colors together."- Bride, Nichole
"We didn't really see the colors together until we went to go pick out the tuxedos. That was actually our first time seeing it all come together" -Groom, Tracy
What was your best memory?
"The one that put the biggest smile on my face was when 'Boo' first walked around that corner and I saw her face looking all pretty and smiling." -Groom, Tracy
"The reception. Dancing, partying, and just having fun with everyone was my favorite part." -Bride, Nichole
What was your worst memory?
"Probably the coordinator. She was good, but a little too bossy. We wanted to be loose and have fun and she wanted everything to be professional. Telling us when we could and couldn't interact with our guests." -Groom, Tracy
"There really wasn't a bad time during the day. I was a little nervous for maybe 30 minutes when the DJ didn't show up at the time he said he would, but then he was there by the time I was dressed and came out of the dressing room. Overall, the day was perfect!"
-Bride, Nichole
Would you get married all over again?
After clarifying the question, that I didn't mean to another person, but to Nichole (also known as, 'Boo'), Tracy answered, "Yes, I would. I would add some things and make it a little longer. After doing all the dances and things you 'have to do', it didn't seem like the party was long enough, but it was well worth it."
"Absolutely!" -Bride, Nichole
Was it what you expected?
"For me, it didn't seem so bad, but for 'Boo', it just seemed so stressful." -Groom, Tracy
"I would say it was a lot more stressful than I expected. The money part wasn't too bad because even though we paid the $12,000, we had the 17 months to split it up." -Bride, Nichole
What is the best advice you would give to someone else planning their wedding?
"Don't rush into it. If you get engaged, you don't have to get married in 3 or 4 months. Take your time and do it right so that you can get your money right and everything planned the way you want it. You don't want to regret it later." -Groom, Tracy
What was your most wasteful purchase in regards to planning your wedding?
"There are some people that I wish we didn't invite because they told us they were coming and didn't show up. We paid for them and that was pretty expensive. That took away from some people that I wanted to invite, but didn't." -Groom, Tracy
"There was a lot of things that we bought and put out that no one even remembers. People remembered other things, but not what was on the centerpieces or the favors. We had a whole box left of favors left, that no one took home."- Bride, Nichole
Now looking, back and seeing that it was so wasteful, would you recommend or suggest not giving out favors or would you change up the favors?
"No, I feel like it's something you have to do and just an expense that you are going to have to wash away." -Groom, Tracy
